Weekly Update, RSVP for Meet by midnight tonight

Great job Sharks on the last two Meets. We’ve outscored our opponent in each and many swimmers have achieved personal best times! We've also had a bunch of awesome volunteers making sure the Meets run smoothly.  A special shout out to last week's Timers, thanks for cheering in your lanes…

Shark Apparel & Team Suit

The Shark Apparel store is now open.  Visit https://rivershyresharks.decoratedgear.com/shop for buy hoodies, flannel pants, hats, parent/grandparent shirts.  Go Sharks!

The 2021 team suit is the Titanium (black/white) TYR Lambent as the prior year's suit - the TYR Phoenix - is no longer widely.  The team suit is optional.  As we will be swimming virtually this year, any racing suit is fine for Meet nights.

Because the traditional suit providers are having difficulty sourcing inventory, we don't have a suit agreement with a particular companyr.  Instead, suits can be purchased from online vendors - example links below:

COVID Guidelines Update

Taking into account the latest CDC Guidelines, consistent research results on the low COVID outdoor transmission risk and Rivershyre HOA COVID policy, the team leadership group met and agreed upon updates to the team's COVID policies:

  • Masks are now optional for swimmers
  • Coaches will now work in the water with swimmers, no masks will be worn when in the water
  • Still no parents sitting on the deck during practice or Meets in order to comply with the HOA maximum deck capacity of 50
  • Parents are welcome to come on deck to drop off swimmers, cross to use the restroom or speak with the coaches; if you're not vaccinated, please continue to wear a mask or keep some distance from those you're speaking with
  • Masks will still be required for volunteers on deck during Meets, this will be evaluated again prior to the first dual Meet

Rivershyre-specific Guidelines

  • All team members must be able to swim independently - assuming the social distancing requirements are still in place when the season begins, there will be no non-swimmer group (aka "bubbles") as coaches need to maintain distance as possible.  As vaccinations increase and guidelines evolve, there may be some opportunity for very small group in-water coaching.  If this occurs, then this option will be presented to the parents of swimmers recommended for participation.
  • Initial registration open to Rivershyre residents and non-resident families who have previously swum on the team.  New non-resident families will be given the option to go on a wait list.  Wait list families may be accepted as we get close to the season start date and have availability.  One exception to the new limit is the 15-18 year age group, new swimmers in this group will be allowed from the beginning, no wait list required.

Gwinnett County Swim League Return to Swim Guidelines

  • Currently the CDC continues to state pools and swimming remains to be a safe sport.  The league will be following all standards set forth by the CDC guidelines for group gatherings to include, but not limited to, maintaining social distances, limiting the number of participants in group gatherings and usage of masks when on the pool deck while out of the water.  The league will also follow standards set forth by USA Swimming for safe practice protocols and swim meets
  • All league swim meets this year will be virtual dual meets to limit the number of participants at a facility pool.
  • We will have a limited number of officials, timers, and volunteers at all meets. ○
  • Teams will utilize the deck space to its fullest potential to spread out swimmers as they enter and place belongings on the pool deck.
  • We will have limited parent involvement this year.
  • There will be an increase in transition times from practice sessions to help clear the deck before others enter.
  • If facilities have two entrance points; entering and exiting the pool will be one directional
  • Teams should utilize one way paths around the pool deck to move swimmers.
  • All swimmers will sign standard league medical waivers that outline COVID-19 regulations and precautions.
  • Swimmers will report to all events dressed and ready to participate. Bathrooms are not to be used as locker rooms or gathering points for any swimmers.
