Welcome 2018 Rivershyre Sharks!  There’s less than one month until the swim seasons starts - hooray:-).  Here’s a few notes about the first week and an invitation to participate in a fun fundraiser that benefits the fight against childhood cancer.

First, the fundraiser - Payton Nabors, a long time Shark team member has been doing a great job raising money as part of the Swim Atlanta Swim Across America fundraiser for the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. One fun activity he is sponsoring is a swim cap exchange.  Swim clubs and swim teams from all over the country are participating.  The deadline to sign-up is this coming Sunday, April 22nd.    The steps to participate are quick and easy:

1. Go to swimacrossamerica.org/goto/paytonnabors and make a $5 donation
2. Go to Swim Cap Exchange Sign Up and complete your profile, you’ll then receive information about your cap partner on Wednesday, April 25th
3. You obtain and send your partner a new silicone cap of your choosing by Saturday, May 12th
4. You receive a new cap and maybe another special treat from your partner

Now for the season kick-off notes:

Monday, May 14th - First day of practice

• U6 – 5:30 – 6:00 pm
• 7-10 yrs – 6:00 – 7:00 pm
• 11+ yrs - 7:00 – 8:00 pm

Each day the first week, your swimmer needs to be prepared for dryland (wear sneakers) and getting in the pool.The first day will definitely begin with dryland.  Whether we get in the pool and whether there is more dryland after the first day will depend on the weather and the water temperature.

Drop any outstanding payments, liability forms (1 per swimmer) and birth certificate copies (first time team members) at the Registration table during the first week of practice.  All outstanding items must be turned in by Thursday, May 17th!  If you items aren't complete, we can't include your swimmer in the roster we submit at the GCSL Team Registration on Saturday, May 19th.

Wednesday, May 23rd from 5:00 – 8:00 pm – School’s Out party

• All are invited to participate in the School's Out Party.  This is a big pool party with dinner food, drinks and treats at concessions, with all proceeds going to the team. 

Thursday, May 24th – 6:00 – 9:00 pm - Mock Meet

• All swimmers are encouraged to participate, but this is especially important for first time team members and the younger age groups.  Sign-up for this event is open now.  Swimmers who participate will be seeded in all events for their age group, so there's no need to provide stroke selection during sign-up.
