    End of season party, Swim Across America and more

    Hey Sharks – With the County Meet concluded, next up is our End of Season celebration. Before getting into the party details, some recognitions and announcements:

    County Meet – Great job by the Sharks County team members! We finished 16th out of 43 teams, team records were broken, and several team members and relay teams finished in the Top 10. You can see the full County results here. A special shout-out to Maria Fitzsimmons who tied for 1st place as the 11-12 age group girls High Point winner, wow:-).

    Swim Across America / Aflac Cancer Center Fundraiser – Payton Nabors, Shark volunteer coach and team member, has organized one final event as part of his quest to raise $3,000 for this worthy cause. Join Payton and other Shark teammates at Old Fountain Tavern (1250 Auburn Rd, Dacula, Georgia 30019) this coming Saturday, July 21st, between 4 pm and 9 pm. A portion of the proceeds from your meal with be donated to the Swim Atlanta Swim Across America team. More information is available here.

    Swim Atlanta and the Middle School Swim Teams - for those with swimmers who feel next summer is too long to wait for their next race;-)

    1. Swim Atlanta Sugarloaf has provided us with this information about evaluation dates for swimmers interested in joining one of their teams.  Swim Atlanta also has a Hamilton Mill location.
    2. The Collins Hill Middle School Team will open registration in September and their season runs from October - January.  Information on registration dates, fees and more will be posted on their site in the coming weeks.  Check www.chmsswim.com for information.

    And now about the party....

    End of Season Party and Awards Ceremony

    The end of season party is open to all team members and their families. If your family isn’t attending, please reply “not attending” to this email. This information will be a big help for the food and drink planning.

    Date/time/place -Saturday, August 4th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Rivershyre Clubhouse

    Schedule

    • 5:30 – 6:00 pm – setup in the clubhouse, drop off potluck contributions
    • 6:00 pm – Party begins, begin serving food
    • 7:00 pm – Awards ceremony at the pavilion
    • 8:00 pm– Party concludes, clean-up

    Food & Drink - The team will provide drinks (water, soda), the “meat entree” (chicken and sandwiches) and a large sheet cake. The rest of the food is potluck.  Contributions are requested based on your swimmer(s) ages with a maximum request of 2 items per family.

    • Ages 6 and under: Appetizer or side dish
    • Ages 7/8: Appetizer or large bag of salty (chips, pretzels, etc.)
    • Ages 9/10: Salad, warm side dish or fruit
    • Ages 11/12: Salad or warm side dish
    • Ages 13/14: Cookies, brownies, fruit, or individual baked goods
    • Ages 15 and up: Cookies, brownies, fruit, or individual baked goods

    Rain date – If we have to postpone due to the weather, the party will place on Sunday, August 5th.

    If you’re not able to attend, but would like to pick up your swimmers award, please email me and we’ll work out a way to get it to you.
