Meet info, Potluck breakfast, Sunday practice notes and more
Hey Sharks - some updates and reminders:
Thursday Meet vs Apalachee - Meet theme is Shark Out / Team Spirit
10 & Under group - arrive by 6:00 pm, warm-up at 6:15 pm, Meet start at 6:30 pm.
11 & Up group - arrive by 7:30 pm, warm-up at 7:45 (assuming the 10U events are completed), Meet start at 8:00 pm - note these times have all moved 15 minutes later.
Relays will be combined for each age group this Meet. Let's all cheer them on to fast finishes! Individual race heats will only be combined if there's a single swimmer in a heat. This will help keep the timing and computer entry fast and accurate.
Thursday Morning Practice Potluck Breakfast - The swimmers loved it last week, so let's do it again:). Send a treat to be shared by those in your swimmer's practice group.
Sunday Practice Notes
- Beginner swimmer practice now 6:30 - 7:00 pm - if your swimmer can't swim a full lap by themselves, please come to this practice on Sunday night (only), not the 7-8 pm 10 & under practice. All 3 practice lanes @ 7:00 pm will be used for lap swimming. Beginner practice time in the evening remains 7:00 pm for all other nights or 10:30 - 11:00 am in the morning session.
- Ribbons from the Thursday Meet are available for pickup from the ribbon box each Sunday
- Swimmers of the Meet announced by the coaches - this weekly award is given to 1 boy and 1 girl in the 10 & under and 1 boy and 1 girl in the 11 & up. It's a recognition that incorporate many elements - sportsmanship, consistently showing extra effort, special accomplishments like personal bests
- Sunday night treats return - after the swimmer meeting and Swimmer of the Meet announcement for each age group, a small snack treat will be handed out.
Team photos - There will be no formal team photo this season, but we'll be taking pictures of each group at the Meet in their team shirts tomorrow night and will make them available. Additionally, we're talking with Krystal Nolan about offering an individual picture option, details on this to come soon.
Volunteer Shout-out - Special shout out to Jill Bridges and Melanie Moore, our tireless computer entry team who arrive before the Meet begins to setup and run timer sheets, and are among the last at the pool as they finish keying in all the results. Along the way, they've been taking the extra time to enter the DQ details visible in the Swim Topia results, which helps the coaches and the swimmers know what to focus on improving. Thank you Jill and Melanie!
