Congratulations to all our swimmers and volunteers on a great Meet last week!  A special shout-out to our Bullpen and Staging crews, lead by Kim Talley and Mokota Turner, and with 1st half volunteer help from parents and swimmers Maria Fitzsimmons, Bobby Beard and Sterling Turner.  This crew, along with our coaches, have done a great job all season getting the swimmers where they need to be when they need to be there:).

Sunday (Father's Day) Practice on if the weather allows

• We will have evening practices at the normal times this Sunday, Father's Day.  We understand many will miss it as they celebrate with their families.  However, several team members have requested practice so, while historically we've given our coaches this night off, they've offered to come and run a full set of practice sessions for those who wish to attend.  Thank you coaches!
• The forecast for Sunday if very "iffy".  Please check your messages prior to coming to the pool in case we send out a last minute cancellation.

Rivershyre vs Steeple Station Meet June 24th (Last Dual Meet)

• RSVP and swimmer stroke and job selection due by midnight Sunday (go to www.rivershyresharks.com and click on the RS vs Rays Meet in the right side banner)
• Meet theme is Favorite Movie or Book Character
• Meet Heat Sheet (list of swimmers' events and lanes) will be posted on www.rivershyresharks.com on Wednesday.
• 10 & Under group - arrive by 6:00 pm, warm-up at 6:15 pm, Meet start at 6:30 pm. 11 & Up group - arrive by 7:30 pm, warm-up at 7:45 (or as soon as the 10U events are completed), Meet start at 8:00 pm

REGULAR SEASON ENDS

County Championship - July 9th - 12th @ Georgia Tech

Rivershyre Sharks County Championship team - the coaches will be in touch this week with all potential County team members.  To participate in Country practices, individuals must either be in the GCSL Top 100 for an individual event or a member of our team's A relay for their age group.  To participate in an individual event at the County Meet, the swimmer must rank in the Top 50 in the final seedings that will be released July 6th.  

It is very important we know as soon as possible if a swimmer eligible for County does not wish to participate as this impacts both our submitted entries (we get fined $$$ if we enter someone who then doesn't participate) and the relay team members.  Please let Coaches Daab, Katie or Katherine know if your swimmer has been asked about County participation and is not available.

County Practice Schedule - County practice will take place the weeks of June 28th and July 5th.  There is only 1 practice a day during the County practice period.  Practice dates/times will be announced by Sunday, June 27th.

Meet Details

• The GCSL County Championship Meet will be held at Georgia Tech Friday, July 9th - Sunday, July 12th. The current schedule by age group (subject to change) is:
• Age Group Schedule
  • Session 1: Friday July 9th PM - 15-18 age group - start time TBD (late afternoon) The normal 13-14 & 15-18 session is being split to comply with crowd restrictions and guidelines from Tech. This is necessary to allow the Top 50 swimmers from each age group to participate.
  • Session 2 : Saturday July 10th AM - 9-10 age group - start time 9:20AM
  • Session 3 : Saturday July 10th PM - 13-14 age group - start time 3:15 PM
  • Session 4 : Sunday July 11 AM - 8 & under age group - start time 9:15 AM
  • Session 5 : Sunday July 11 PM - 11& 12 age group - start time 3 PM

• There are no spectator allows at the County meet per current GA Tech rules.
• Volunteer positions will be limited, with a certain number required from each team based on the number of team participants in each session
• Teams will be sitting in the stands in designated spots. The deck will be used for staging only.

End of Season Celebration

Details for the team end of season celebration are being discussed and will be announced soon.  This has historically been a potluck dinner / swim party with a brief awards ceremony on the Saturday or Sunday before school starts.  For this year, we need to determine what type of event we can hold that will comply with the Rivershyre HOA COVID restrictions and will then announce the date and format.
